Money-love can destroy family-love. Couples fight over finances. Kids resent and rebel against money-hungry parents who have little time for their children. "A greedy man brings trouble to his family" (15:27). Expensive houses, cars, clothes, and other stuff can't replace love of God and each other.

Without God even a high income can bring trouble, but if you belong to God, you can flourish on just a modest income. "The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it" (Proverbs 10:22). Better a small house and hand-me-down clothes with godly love than a mansion and the finest fashions with bickering. Harmony is worth more than luxury.

Recognize true treasure. "He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord." "She is worth far more than rubies" (Proverbs 18:22; 30:10). Husband, never take your wife for granted. Wife, never take your husband for granted. Treasure your spouse more than all the money in the world!

Parents and children, don't take each other for granted. Prize each other. "He who has a wise son delights in him" (Proverbs 23:24). "Parents are the pride of the children" (Proverbs 17:6). A healthy, happy parent-child relationship is worth more than a billionaire's bank account.

Nothing is more valuable than family--except God. Love him above all. Treat family members as treasures from him. As for money, don't worry. God will make sure the bills get paid.

PRAYER--Lord, you are more precious than gold, and our families are treasures from you. Free us from being money crazy. Make us content in you and close to each other. Amen.
